Are braces for me?
Every one of us has a unique set of teeth and some of us are blessed with straighter teeth than others. For those of us who have problems with our teeth and jaws, orthodontic treatment can be a real benefit.
At the Bachmayer Orthodontic Clinic, we are qualified and experienced in treating a range of different orthodontic problems. We've outlined some of the most common ones we see below.
Crowding
Crowding is a result of not enough space in your mouth for all of your teeth. This can cause teeth to overlap and grow crooked. This can have further implications as it may affect the way you chew and therefore, digest your food.
Spacing
The opposite of crowding, this is a result of there being too much space in your mouth for all of your teeth. This can cause you to have big gaps between your teeth, where food may lodge. Another problem which can occur from spacing is infected and inflamed gums. This is known as gingivitis.
Overbite
An overbite is the result of your upper jaw sitting out past your lower jaw when you bite on your back teeth. As orthodontists, our focus isn't just on teeth, but on aligning your jaws to ensure you have a correct bite as well.
Underbite
The opposite of an overbite, an underbite is the result of your lower jaw sitting out past your upper jaw when you bite on your back teeth.
Open bite
Another common bite problem is when your upper and lower jaws don't meet when you bite. This can cause a big gap between your teeth and can affect the appearance of your smile. Fortunately, orthodontic appliances can fix these types of bite issues.
If you, or a family member, suffer from any of these problems, book a consultation with us so you can find out exactly how we can help you.
